Collaboration Team (RCT),
and the University of Illinois-Extension.

PUBLIC MARKET / AG ENTREPRENEURSHIP CENTER
Located in the Rawleigh Complex, the Northwest Illinois Agricultural Entrepreneurship Center
(NIAEC) will create jobs in Freeport, and expand regional business around value-added
agriculture. Establishing Northwest Illinois as a hub of regional food processing, the Center will
serve Midwest metro markets including Chicago.
The Center draws from the region’s rich agricultural assets, a history of food production, and the
success of area food producers such as Freeport-based Furst McNess. The Center will include:

produce to increase profitability. In
a survey developed by UIEX and
other local partners in 2007, 90
percent of the 50 area producers
surveyed indicated that their
business could expand if such a
Center existed.
